Distaclor
Antibiotic Overview:
Distaclor
(Cefaclor), belongs to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
It is primarily a broad spectrum antibiotic, but has come
to be used mainly for treatment of respiratory, renal and
soft tissue bacterial infections. Distaclor 's mode of operation
is bactercidal, by interfering with the ability of the bacteria to form
and maintain cell wall integrity, thus the bacteria are destroyed.
Approximately
10% of penicillin-sensitive patients will also display similar
allergy symptoms to Distaclor. This family of drugs
may also increase the anti-coagulant effects of Warfarin.
Antacids may also reduce the absorption of Distaclor and
should not be taken in conjunction with this treatment.
