Product type: Antibiotic Available: Ireland , UK Keflex® is a brand of cefalexin, a cephalosporin antibiotic usually administered to treat bacterial infections of the ears, nose and throat. It is also used to treat bronchitis and pneumonia; cystitis, kidney and prostate infections; bone and joint infections; dental abscesses and skin infections such as boils and infected wounds. Keflex is supplied for oral administration in capsules and tablets of 250mg or 500mg and as an oral fruit flavoured suspension of 125mg/5ml and 250mg/5ml dosage. Patients who have had previous allergic reaction to penicillin may also experience similar intolerance to Keflex. Keflex (Cefalexin) is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic for oral administration. Cefalexin is particullarly indicated in the treatment of the following infections due to susceptible micro-organisms: Respiratory tract infections Otitis media Skin and soft tissue infections Bone and joint infections Genito-urinary tract infections, including acute prostatitis Dental infections Full clinical information is given in the Keflex SPC and all general information is available by viewing the PIL (Patient Information Leaflet) links to both of which can be found in the left-hand menu. |
